SyNCH District Co-ordinator
Description
The Health Systems Trust (HST) seeks to appoint a SyNCH District Co-ordinator to support the implementation, scale-up, optimisation and sustainability of the national SyNCH digital health platform for the Central Chronic Medicine Dispensing and Distribution (CCMDD) programme. This role forms part of the national SyNCH Scale-Up and Integration initiative under the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)-funded programme, supporting digital health transformation at district level. The position will be based in the Nelson Mandela Bay District (Eastern Cape). The Co-ordinator will provide technical leadership, co-ordination and oversight to ensure effective implementation, integration and utilisation of SyNCH and related digital health systems across facilities, sub-districts and hospitals. The SyNCH District Co-ordinator will work closely with Department of Health (DoH) District Management Teams, facility staff, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) units, District Support Partners (DSPs), and the SyNCH Helpdesk to strengthen digital capacity, improve system adoption, and drive performance. Candidates based in Nelson Mandela Bay are encouraged to apply, as HST is unable to cover relocation costs. This is a fixed term contract position, renewable subject to availability of funding.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct readiness assessments and support district roll-out of new SyNCH modules. • Ensure alignment with national digital health standards, CCMDD guidelines, and the SyNCH Scale-Up and Integration Plan. • Co-ordinate district-level system support and ensure timeous escalation and resolution of ICT and system issues. • Monitor system utilisation, identify performance gaps, and implement practical corrective actions. • Lead training, mentoring and coaching of master trainers and district teams on SyNCH utilisation. • Maintain accurate training records and support sustainable skills transfer. • Strengthen collaboration with DoH district teams, DSPs, ICT units and facility staff to support smooth implementation and scale-up. • Communicate system updates, progress and key decisions to relevant stakeholders. • Track and report on district performance, utilisation trends and implementation progress. • Provide data-driven insights to strengthen decision-making and patient follow-up. • Manage HST ICT Technicians where applicable.
Key Attributes
• Strong ICT competence with the ability to troubleshoot, support and optimise digital health tools. • Strong skills in training, facilitation, system orientation and capacity-building at facility and district level.

Qualification Required
• A National Diploma in ICT, Health Sciences, Information Systems or a related field (NQF level 6). • Knowledge of the public health sector policies and procedures will be advantageous. • English language proficiency, both verbal and written. • A valid driver’s licence.
Experience Required
• Three to five years’ experience in Public Health, digital health or health system strengthening. • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation, including use of data for decision-making. • Experience in stakeholder engagement with the ability to work across facility, district and partner structures. • Experience in health data management, data validation and interpretation of routine programme reports. • Experience in co-ordinating or supporting digital system roll-out, user support, and/or ICT projects.
Remuneration
A salary package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s Job Grading System will be offered.
