Description

PURPOSE The Health Systems Trust (HST) seeks to appoint a SyNCH IT Technician to support the National scale-up, optimisation and sustainability of the SyNCH digital health platform and its integration with eLABS. This position forms part of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)-funded Digital Health Optimisation Programme and will provide essential support for facility-readiness, system implementation and end-user support within selected Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities. The position will be based in the Nelson Mandela Bay District (Eastern Cape). The SyNCH IT Technician will provide support including hardware installation and configuration, connectivity troubleshooting, system set-up, Helpdesk ticket resolution, and user training and support. The Technician will work closely with the SyNCH District Co-ordinator, District Information and Communications Technology (ICT) teams, District Support Partners (DSPs) and district management to strengthen digital capacity and service delivery. Candidates based in Nelson Mandela Bay are encouraged to apply, as HST is unable to cover relocation costs. This is a fixed term contract position, renewable subject to availability of funding.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with readiness assessments and review ICT infrastructure and connectivity. • Identify digital readiness gaps and escalate them to District ICT teams. • Install, configure and maintain desktops, tablets, routers, scanners, and other ICT hardware. • Ensure all ICT equipment is fully set up, functional, and recorded on the DoH asset register. • Provide technical support during SyNCH roll-out, PrEP module activation, and eLABS integration. • Offer on-site, remote and telephonic IT troubleshooting to facility and pick-up point (PuP) staff. • Create user accounts and support SyNCH users with system access and onboarding. • Support Training-of-Trainers (ToT) sessions led by the District Co-ordinator. • Conduct orientation and system training for facility and PuP staff. • Mentor end-users and assist with SyNCH workflow navigation. • Communicate system updates, new features, and workflow changes to users. • Provide system utilisation updates to the District Co-ordinator and district teams. • Participate in review meetings and highlight facility performance gaps. • Collaborate with district ICT and M&E teams, facility managers, and DSP staff to improve digital system use and interoperability.

• Strong ICT competence (hardware, software, troubleshooting, networking). • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. • Ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines.

Qualification Required

• A National Diploma in ICT, Health Sciences, Information Systems or a related field (NQF level 6). • English language proficiency, both verbal and written. • A valid driver’s licence.

Experience Required

• Two to three years’ experience in health information systems or ICT support. • Experience supporting digital health systems (e.g. SyNCH, eLABS, TIER.Net, HPRS) is advantageous. • Experience in system implementation, training and end-user support.

Remuneration

A salary package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s Job Grading System will be offered.
