National SyNCH Implementation Co-ordinator

Description

The Health Systems Trust (HST) seeks to appoint a National Co-ordinator to manage the implementation of the Synchronised National Communication in Health (SyNCH) electronic system at district, provincial, and national levels. The role entails managing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) support staff, facilitating monitoring and evaluation, and providing regular progress reports to the Project Manager: Health Information Systems. This is a fixed-term contract position based in Durban, with renewal being contingent on continued funding.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and co-ordinate the planning, implementation and monitoring of the project, including the financial aspects of project implementation. • Liaise with the Department of Health (DoH) structures and manage multi-stakeholder relationships with funders and development partners. • Manage project deliverables to meet the stated project targets and outcomes. • Manage the development of system changes required; develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and tools in relation to the Central Chronic Medicine Dispensing and Distribution (CCMDD) programme, and resolve challenges to ensure system effectiveness. • Provide guidance on automated reports required by districts and the National Department of Health (NDoH). • Manage stakeholder orientation and training requirements at all levels, including in districts where the SyNCH web-based system is not being implemented. • Advise and provide technical leadership for and direction to a multidisciplinary project team on strategic project-related issues. • Ensure high-quality project outputs aligned with both internal and external stakeholder requirements. • Ensure the timeous management of project risks and appropriate mitigation plans. • Contribute and participate in meetings, conferences and workshops in collaboration with other projects and units. • Compile internal and external (funders’) project reports as required. • Provide technical support to the project team in documenting good practices and lessons learnt.

Key Attributes

• Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office applications) • Ability to prepare and edit reports in a grammatically concise, scientifically correct manner • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team comprising members with diverse backgrounds • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively • Experience of working in a non-governmental environment is recommended.

Qualification Required

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a Health Sciences or Information Technology field, including registration with the relevant statutory body

Experience Required

• Five years’ experience in the public health field • Five years’ experience in project management or health management • Demonstrable training skills • Advanced knowledge in designing and implementing health information reporting systems • Sound monitoring and evaluation (M&E) skills in data management, handling and reporting • A good understanding and skilful application of quality improvement models and processes

Remuneration

A salary package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s job grading system will be offered.
