SENIOR RESEARCHER
Description
The Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint a Senior Researcher to join the Research and Implementation Science team. The incumbent’s primary responsibility will be to plan, design and execute research projects in accordance with the organisation’s vision and mission.
Key Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage and participate in the design, securing, resourcing, implementation, reporting and successful completion of research projects. ? Knowledge management of research outputs. ? Actively seek and contribute to the organisation’s resource mobilisation. ? Manage relationships with funders and stakeholders. ? Promote collaboration with other research institutions and other HST units. ? Represent HST in public fora, meetings and conferences. ? Communicate complex conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high-level skills and a range of media. ? Develop links with external contacts such as other educational and research bodies. ? Develop, manage and monitor research projects. ? Mentor junior colleagues. ? Manage a team of individuals such as researchers, data managers, data capturers and data collectors as required.

Qualification Required
A master’s degree in public health or public health medicine speciality with at least 10 years of applied research experience in health systems and implementation science research.
Experience Required
Demonstrated experience in conducting health systems and implementation science research projects. ? Demonstrable expertise in advanced research methods, quantitative and qualitative. ? A portfolio of contributions to peer-reviewed publications and grey literature. ? Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise reports and presentations. ? Proven administrative skills to manage project/s, including financial management. VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT ? Ability to manage own workload. ? Ability to work accurately, efficiently and independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team. ? Ability to continuously disseminate research outputs. Competence ? Knowledge and experience of the South African health system. ? Ability to prepare and edit proposals, reports and papers in a grammatically concise, scientifically correct manner. ? A high level of computer literacy, including proficiency in using statistical packages such as NVivo and Stata. ? Ability to liaise with people at all levels, internally and externally. ? Good facilitation and communication skills
Remuneration
A salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s job grading system will be offered to the successful candidate.
