BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Gauteng | Contract

If you are interested in supporting the sustainability of a leading NGO in South Africa towards continuing the important work we do in supporting health systems strengthening in the public sector; then this could be the opportunity for you. The Health Systems Trust (HST) has provided support to South Africa’s public health system since 1992 and has been active in the development of the national health system with products and services in the area of health systems strengthening. We work tirelessly to: • Support the largest HIV programme in the world through our support to four high burden districts in KwaZulu-Natal addressing the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets. • Conduct implementation science research to inform the work we do on the ground and to support the Department of Health’s (DoH) priorities towards National Health Insurance (NHI). • Build capacity across all levels of the health system, from community health workers to doctors and various DoH officials. • Curate and disseminate health information for various stakeholders via multiple channels. We have two flagship publications that are credible sources of health information used across sectors for planning and decision making. • Support to the National DoH Digital Health Information System towards universal health care (UHC) through NHI. HST has a rich history of working in all provinces in South Africa and has built strong relationships over decades at all levels of the health system including national, provincial, district, facility and community levels. The Business Development Unit (BDU) team at HST is responsible for identifying and acquiring new work for the organisation through actively seeking new opportunities that are in line with HST’s strategic goals to ensure a sustainable organisation. The BD Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the unit, from searching for opportunities to submission of fully compliant, responsive, and competitive proposals to funders. In collaboration with BDU management, Finance and Grants and Compliance the incumbent will have key responsibility to ensure the due diligence of all proposal submissions are optimally completed for identified opportunities. PURPOSE: HST wishes to appoint a Business Development Officer to provide operational, administrative and technical support to the Business Development Unit to contribute toward achieving the unit’s strategic goal. The BD Officer will lead the due diligence aspects of proposal development; communication with donors; guide and support partners on due diligence requirements; conduct literature reviews; co-ordinate proposal checklists; draft capacity statements; source and strengthen CVs for proposals; maintain MS Teams platform and the Client Relationship Management (CRM) database; maintain BD subscriptions; lead opportunity searches for calls for proposals; set up meetings including IT related requirements for virtual meetings; and compile statistics on proposal opportunity searches to supporting BD internal reporting. The position is based at the Midrand office, Gauteng. This is a fixed-term contract position, renewable based on funding.

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint a Senior Project Manager for a health systems strengthening programme being implemented in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health in eThekwini District. The South Africa Sustainable Response to HIV and TB (SA SURE PRO) Project programme is focused on fast-tracking the achievement of the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets through implementation of quality improvement strategies to accelerate the identification of TB- and HIV-positive adults, children and adolescents and their enrolment in treatment, ensuring that clinical and community linkages are improved to ensure continuity of care. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for strategic engagement to support district management, overseeing the implementation of the project in the district in partnership with the District Directors, aligning programme workplans, activities and strategies to District Department of Health (DoH) objectives in the district, while contributing to technical initiatives within the organisation, such as business development activities. This is a fixed-term contract position based at HST’s offices in Durban, and is renewable based on continuation of funding.

SUB-DISTRICT CO-ORDINATORS

KwaZulu-Natal | eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality | Durban | Contract

Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint four Sub-District Co-ordinators in eThekwini District, KwaZulu-Natal Province to support co-ordination and management of the South Africa Sustainable Response to HIV and TB (SA SURE PRO) Project at sub-district level. The project aims to strengthen local capacity for the provision of sustainable HIV- and TB-related care and treatment. PURPOSE The incumbent will provide strategic direction, and technical and operational support to the project team and the Department of Health (DoH). SUMMARY Interacting with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to improve accountability for an integrated and strengthened health system, the Sub-District Co-ordinator (SDC) will co-ordinate and manage the project and associated staff, and provide technical support through mentorship and coaching of Primary Health Care (PHC) Supervisors and sub-structures in the assigned sub-district. Working with community structures and the DoH in the Sub-district, the SDC will provide support to targeted HIV and TB care and treatment, and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention interventions. The incumbent will provide strategic direction and operational support to the project team and DoH staff. They will be responsible for initiating, implementing and reporting on project activities and sub-district performance, and will contribute to other organisational initiatives, such as technical input for proposal-writing. This is a fixed-term contract position, renewable based on availability of funding.

DIFFERENTIATED MODELS OF CARE

KwaZulu-Natal | eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality | Contract

The Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint a Differentiated Models of Care (DMoC) Co-ordinator for the South Africa Sustainable Response to HIV/AIDS and TB (SA SURE PRO) Project, to manage Pharmacists and Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistants and to render pharmaceutical support in health facilities. The incumbent will be responsible for the management and support of the Central Chronic Medicines Dispensing and Distribution (CCMDD) strategy implementation, Synchronised Communication in Health (SyNCH) which is the electronic CCMDD system, as well as Drug Information systems throughout the eThekwini District, and will liaise with relevant stakeholders within the Department of Health (DoH) in support of the TB and HIV programme. This is a fixed-term contract position, renewable subject to continuation of funding. The position will be based in the eThekwini District, KwaZulu-Natal, and the incumbent will report to the DMoC Manager: KwaZulu-Natal. The incumbent must reside in or relocate (at their own cost) to the eThekwini District in KwaZulu-Natal prior to the start-date of this position.
