Description
The Health Systems Trust (HST) is a leading organisation dedicated to strengthening health systems and improving health outcomes across South Africa and the African continent. We collaborate with government, donors, and partners to deliver innovative solutions, strategic communications, and impactful programmes that advance health equity. HST is seeking a highly organised and proactive Project Coordinator to join our Business Development, Communications, and Marketing Unit (BDCMU). This pivotal role will ensure seamless co-ordination between BDCMU and other Units such as Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) and Research & Implementation Science (RIS), and external stakeholders. The Project Coordinator will facilitate activity follow-through, support stakeholder engagement, and contribute to the timely delivery of strategic communications and donor engagement initiatives. The position is based at the Midrand office, Gauteng. This is a fixed-term contract position, renewable based on funding.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary point of contact within the Unit, ensuring alignment across activities and projects. • Monitor progress on key activities, milestones, and deliverables, escalating issues as needed. • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the Business Development, Communications & Marketing, HSS, RIS, and other relevant Units. • Coordinate HST’s engagements with external stakeholders and ensure that follow-through activities are implemented. • Maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and documentation to track all initiatives. • Support stakeholder engagement strategies, including internal teams, donors, partners, and government agencies. • Assist in organising meetings, workshops, and engagement activities, ensuring follow-up actions are completed. • Support the development of strategic agreements for engaging with external stakeholders. This will include service level agreements and MoUs. • Support the development and timely delivery of HST’s annual report, newsletters, success stories, and other strategic communication materials. • Support the coordination of the compilation of content, liaising with communications and marketing department, programme teams, writers, and designers. • Help coordinate the preparation of presentations, briefing notes, and communication assets for donor meetings and public events. • Support intel gathering and sharing of information on conferences that are aligned with HST’s mission and vision. • Assist in coordinating donor engagement activities, including tracking engagement plans and deliverables. • Support marketing initiatives to promote HST’s programmes and visibility, including branding, online content, social media, and event participation. • Manage administrative tasks related to the Unit’s activities, including scheduling, correspondence, procurement, and document management. • Support the preparation of reports, proposals, and other documentation as required. • Support business development initiative.

Qualification Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Communications, Public Health, or related field
Experience Required
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in coordination, project management, or communications support, preferably within a health or development organisation. • Proven ability to coordinate multiple activities and stakeholders simultaneously. • Experience in donor engagement and strategic communication is an advantage.
Remuneration
A salary package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s Job Grading System will be offered.
