ENROLLED NURSE X4

Description

The Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint (4) Enrolled Nurse for the National Department of Health Global Fund Tuberculosis (TB) Project in eThekwini district. The enrolled nurse will support a TB Clinical Nurse Mentor and be responsible for facilitating linkage to care, providing adherence counselling and support, conducting TB screening and testing, promoting retention in care and TB prevention. The enrolled nurses will support selected primary health care facilities and hospitals in the district. This is a fixed-term contract position, renewable based on continuation of funding and performance

Key Responsibilities

• Strengthen and support active TB case finding. • Linkage to care and adherence support. • Assist with accurate completion of clinical documents and registers. • Follow up on patients referred to the facility to ensure a continuum of care. • Support pharmacovigilance activities. • Support quality improvement initiative. • Work closely with facilities to establish community-based structures that will create demand for TB screening, care and treatment. • Support community mobilisation activities, including mobile outreach activities for TB screening, testing, care and treatment services. • Employ appropriate messaging to trigger demand-driven TB case finding and provision of treatment of Latent TB Infection (LTBI). • Screen and collect sputum for diagnostic purposes. • Identify eligible clients and conduct LF-LAM testing. • Facilitate the up-down referral and linkage of TB patients between the community and facilities. • Ensure TB patients on treatment attend appointments. • Report to the facility Manager on patients screened, diagnosed, linked to care, and visited. • Update and record the patient’s information in standardised registers and clinical stationary. • Supervise ENAs and TB Support Officers as required • Compile weekly reports for the facility manager and line supervisor.

Matric

Qualification Required

• Higher Certificate Enrolled Nurse or an equivalent qualification as Enrolled/ Staff Nurse

Experience Required

• Current Registration with SANC as an enrolled nurse • Two years of working experience within a similar environment or any clinical setting • Knowledge of basic TB and HIV management • Experience in health promotion and health education • Computer literacy in the Microsoft package • Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills • Willing to travel and work after hours

Remuneration

The salary package for this position based on Global Fund requirements is R222, 703.00 to R 340,599.84 as the Total Cost to Company.
