Description
The Health Systems Trust (HST) seeks to appoint a Pharmacist for the FRESH (Females Rising Through Education, Support and Health) Clinical Research Site to provide pharmaceutical support within the eThekwini District, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and oversight of investigational medicinal products within FRESH, as well as liaising with relevant stakeholders, sponsors, and multidisciplinary partner teams in support of the FRESH site. This is a fixed-term contract position, renewable subject to continuation of funding.
Key Responsibilities
• Provides accurate and efficient dispensing of medication. • Investigational Product Supply Management. • Review trial protocols and assess pharmacy capacity and capability. • Facilitates rapport between the Department of Pharmacy, principal investigators, clinical trial co-ordinators, research assistants and trial sponsors. • Deliver training to staff on managing Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs). • Maintain pharmacy site files to ensure they are inspection-ready. • Operational research audits and inspections at the clinic. • Supervision of and assistance for ethical stock control and support for full stock-taking of Investigational Products. • Ensuring compliance with good clinical/pharmacy practice. • Monitoring of pharmacy records. • Ensuring synergy across Department of Health (DoH) programmes. • Supporting all HST initiatives and projects, and integration with other HST programmes. • Maintaining effective communication with the sponsors. • Performing related administrative and housekeeping tasks and other functions as deemed necessary. • Representing FRESH in stakeholder meetings and workshops when requested.

• Presentation skills • Good counselling, interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to lead and work as a part of team • Willingness and passion for serving people living with HIV • Computer literacy, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills • Accuracy and attention to detail • Information management skills • Fluency in English and isiZulu would be an advantage. • GCP certification.

Qualification Required
• B.Pharm degree • Completion of one year of Community Service • Mandatory: A registration certificate from the South African Pharmacy Council indicating registration as a Pharmacist • A valid South African driver’s licence (Code 8/10)
Experience Required
• Experience with HIV,AIDS and sexually transmitted infection (STI) treatment regimens and adherence issues. • Knowledge of the DoH ordering channels, and a sound understanding of drug-supply management and good pharmacy practice
Remuneration
A salary package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s Job Grading System will be offered.
