ENROLLED NURSING ASSISTANT

Description

Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint Enrolled Nursing Assistant for the National Department of Health Global Fund Tuberculosis (TB) Project in eThekwini district. The Enrolled Nursing Assistants will be attached to the mobile and movable Digital Chest X-Ray units to ensure that all clients are screened, sputum is collected on the spot, results are followed up, and clients are successfully linked to care. This is a fixed-term contract position, renewable based on continuation of funding and performance

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and prepare for daily activities. • Screen all clients at the Digital Chest X-ray containers. • Collect sputum from all clients on the spot. • Generate daily, weekly and monthly data for reporting. • Update patient records with laboratory sputum results and the treatment start date. • Ensure the availability of registers and other commodities required in the mobile unit. • Work with the Data Capturers to ensure that data are captured on the system and verified to ensure data quality. • Follow up on patients referred to the facility to ensure a continuum of care. • Liaise with the TB Support Officer for follow-up of patients. • Conduct community education on TB prevention, symptoms and adherence to treatment,

• Knowledge of basic TB and HIV management • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office • Proficient verbal and written communication skills • Attention to detail and accuracy • Demonstrable conflict resolution skills • A non-judgemental, trustworthy and empathetic personality • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders • Good problem-solving and reasoning ability • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality • Willingness to travel and work after hours

Qualification Required

• A Higher Certificate as an Auxiliary Nurse or an equivalent qualification as Nursing Auxiliary

Experience Required

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an auxiliary nurse • Two years of working experience within a similar environment or any clinical setting • Experience in health promotion and health education

Remuneration

The salary package for this position based on Global Fund requirements is R222,703.00 to R263,964.72 as the Total Cost to Company.
